About

My name is Ilana and I run the Etsy shop DrFrankKnits.  (http://www.etsy.com/shop/drfrankknits) I design and knit soft toys of all sorts, as well as write patterns for others to recreate my work.  My interests include science and science fiction, classic television, food and cooking, puzzles, crafts … well, really there’s too much to list here!  Suffice it to say, my interests are varied and I’m always eager to learn new things.

In this blog, I hope to detail the process behind toy design, give updates about shop items and new listings, as well as just chat about things that interest me.  I also plan to give out lots of easy, free knitting patterns and special discounts for use at DrFrankKnits!

I want this to be a place where visitors feel free to comment and ask questions.  I really don’t bite!  Unless you’re a donut … but I think it’s safe to say that if you’re a donut, you’re not reading blogs!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Thank you for all the wonderful free patterns. I was blessed with a grandson 2 years ago and I can’t wait to make the tractor, sports car & rocket ship for him. I really appreciate it and have shared these free patterns with my knitting friends. Robin in MA

  2. I just discovered your site and love the designs. I cannot print a copy of any of the free pattern Friday designs, though, so I am guessing that they are protected after a certain length of time? I was interested in the Ferrari and gecko patterns. Ravelry still lists them free but I had no luck printing a hard copy. I don’t think I could work from a computer screen.
If you are interested in design ideas, we would love a Ford Mustang.
My daughter lives in Phoenix also. Maybe you are neighbors. :-)-

    1. Hi Dot! Thanks so much for visiting my page! All free designs are still free, and I’m not sure why the print button isn’t working. I tested it on my own computer, and you’re correct that it doesn’t seem to want to print from Internet Explorer. However, I was able to print from Firefox, so perhaps if you have a different browser you can try from there (most are free to download, and I find it useful to have a second browser available for just these sorts of cases.) Sorry I’m not really computer savvy enough to figure out what the issue is with Internet Explorer 🙂 – however another option is simply to copy and paste all text and photos into a Microsoft Word document and then print from there. Let me know if you continue to have trouble. Hope you have a great day!
